5 Things to Do When You’re in Atlanta for SourceCon 2019
SourceCon Atlanta is set to be a blast. Roundtable sessions, networking possibilities, and a bunch of opportunities to learn tips, tricks, and techniques from industry experts. 4. Learn About Atlanta’s Rich History at the Atlanta History Center
The Atlanta History Center was founded in 1926, and is located in one of the city’s busiest and most vibrant communities. This 33-acre destination features the historic 1928 Swan House and the Tullie Smith Farm; the Atlanta History Museum; the Centennial Olympic Games Museum; the Kenan Research Center; and acres of beautiful gardens and trails.
The History Center also runs the Margaret Mitchell House, located in Midtown Atlanta. Margaret Mitchell was the Pulitzer Prize-winning author of Gone With the Wind. This two-acre campus features tours of a Gone with the Wind movie exhibit, a museum shop, the house and apartment where she wrote her novel, plus an exhibit highlighting the life and times of the renowned writer.
5. Look at Over 15,000 Works of Art at the High Museum of Art
You can’t miss this museum’s grandiose buildings along Peachtree Street. The High Museum of Art in Midtown Atlanta has become the leading art museum in the Southeastern part of the U.S. It was originally founded in 1905 as the Atlanta Art Association, before it received its first permanent home in 1926. The High was donated by Mrs. Joseph M. High, which was her family’s residence. It boasts over 15,000 celebrated collections, from classic to contemporary art. It also features renowned architecture by Richard Meier and Renzo Piano. Catch their special exhibitions and extensive collections which support many Southern artists.
