Vegas is known as the “Entertainment Capital of the World” for a reason. And while we love HR tech as much as the next person, we all need to give our brain a break. Here are the best ways to spend some time while taking a break from HR Tech Con 2019.

Contrary to popular belief, casinos aren’t the only things that make Vegas entertaining.

  1. See the Iconic Las Vegas Sign

This iconic, 25ft tall sign has been there since 1959, and is one of the most beloved landmarks in Vegas. The sign is in the median at the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard, the street also known as the Strip. The most convenient time to get your photo is on your way from or to the airport, although it looks its best at night when it’s lit.

2. Go on a Vegas Foodie Tour

The first question on every traveller’s mind upon arriving to a new city is, “Where’s a good place to eat?” If you have a hard time answering, check out Lip Smacking Foodie Tours. This culinary walking tour allows guests to sample signature dishes and drinks at top restaurants downtown or on the iconic Vegas Strip.

3. Visit a Museum or an Art Gallery

You might be surprised to know that Vegas is home to many unique museums. This town loves to explore its legacy of organized crime. Start with the Mob Museum, where you can see exhibits dedicated to the most devious mobsters in history. Iconic hotels like The Flamingo even have a Bugsy Siegel memorial and bar, dedicated to the gangster who built the hotel.

If you love vintage autos, check out the Nostalgia Street Rods Museum. At the Neon Museum, in the outdoor Neon Boneyard, you can see lots of cool retro Vegas signs. Take a guided tour to learn about the history of the exhibits.

4. Sip the Best and Most Creative Cocktails in Town at the Downtown Cocktail Room

The Downtown Cocktail Room was ahead of its time, even before the craft cocktail trend took off in Vegas. This bar is deemed to be one of the best in town, despite its meek and unassuming appearance. They have a team of mixologists that come up with a new menu about four times a year, adding different twists to their classic drinks each time.

5. Marvel’s Avengers Station on Las Vegas Blvd.

Only at Marvel’s Avengers Station can one train to become an Avengers agent. This one-part museum, one-part interactive exhibit, is a superhero haven found inside the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. They offer fans an exclusive and hands-on deep dive into the Marvel Universe. At Marvel’s Avengers Station, you can learn to operate Iron Man’s suit, explore Bruce Banner’s laboratory, and see Captain America’s actual uniform and shield used in the movies. Get your tickets here.

6. Wander Around the Vibrant Arts District

The Downtown Arts District is an 18-block neighborhood about one mile south of Fremont Street. You can grab cocktails at Velveteen Rabbit, shop for secondhand knick knacks at Antique Alley, enjoy coffee at either Vesta or Makers & Finders, and eat dinner at Esther’s Kitchen. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The community is expected to expand in the next few years.

Bonus: Watch the Bellagio Fountain Show

We know; it’s an obvious one. But The Fountain Show at the Bellagio is totally free, and it really is worth seeing. More than a thousand fountains shooting water almost 500 feet into the air, accompanied by beautiful jazz music. The shows run every 15 minutes at night and every 30 minutes during the day. Make sure you stop by at some point.
